Staff Bio: Michael Waters
Michael Waters is a passionate and clever craft beer devotee who turned a home-brewing addiction into an accomplished and respectable career in the world of beer. Upon relocating to Austin in 2009, he joined Independence Brewing Company. By 2011, he was named head brewer at Independence, introduced a new series of limited and seasonal beers, and brought an elevated level of quality to all of his products - even winning a coveted Good Food Award.
Waters is drawn to and excels at creating hop-forward and Belgian-inspired beers. As brewmaster, Waters intends to add his own brand of creativity when brewing up local libations while still paying homage to the established brewing philosophy of Uncle Billy’s. Of course, he also plans to continue offering Uncle Billy’s favorites like Ax Handle, Hell In Keller, and Hop Zombie. We can’t wait to experience the brews Michael will bring to the table… or, more accurately, to the bar. This is gonna be good!

It’s National Drink Beer Day!
What does this mean? Obviously it’s time to guzzle some craft brews. Pretty convenient that NDBD falls on a Friday this year, although let’s be real. Everyone at Uncle Billy’s celebrates the spirit of this holiday every day.
In honor of this momentous occasion, we’re taking $2 off all tasting flights all day long at Barton Springs. This means you can swing by after work (or during work! After all, it’s a holiday) and sip on some old favorites while trying some of our new brews. Which brings us to everyone’s favorite topic… what’s on tap right now at Barton Springs.
